PawnHero.ph, Echelon Asia Summit 2015 TOP 100 Qualifier
Over 500 tech startups applied, but newly launched online pawnshop in the Philippines earned coveted Qualifier spot.
PawnHero.ph , the first online pawnshop in the Philippines, got selected as a TOP 100 Qualifier of Echelon Asia Summit 2015, the largest tech conference in Asia.
“We’re very excited that our website qualified to pitch for a spot at this year’s Echelon Asia Summit. As the first online pawnshop in Southeast Asia, we have a lot of great ideas that will not only disrupt the traditional pawning industry in the region, but also make financial inclusion more available to more citizens,” the online pawnshop’s Chairman and Co-founder, David Margendorff said.
All Philippine Qualifiers will take the stage on March 24, Makati City. Selected qualifiers will be one of the TOP 100 startups to exhibit alongside winning startups hailed from 13 other countries: Australia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
“This year, the summit got double the applications it received from 2014. To be selected as one of the top qualifiers is a big recognition for our startup already,” Margendorff added.
PawnHero.ph just recently launched its pioneering online pawning website. The startup seeks to provide convenient solutions to short-term cash needs by offering the lowest interest rates in the Philippines, and by accepting a wider variety of items as collateral for a loan.
The Echelon Asia Summit 2015 is a 2-day tech conference that gathers over 2,000 delegates including Asia’s top technology investors, venture capitalists, and startup industry experts, among many.
